1 c Shortening
2 c Brown sugar
3 Well beaten eggs
1/3 c Hot water
3 c Flour
1 tsp Soda
¼ tsp Salt
¼ Grated nutmeg
2 c Seeded raisins
Cream the shortening, add the sugar gradually, the well beaten eggs, the hot water, and the flour mixed and sifted with the soda, nutmeg, and salt. Stir in the raisins. Drop by spoonfuls onto a well buttered baking pan and bake in a moderately hot oven.
