Sugar Mixture
3/4 butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup molasses
Dry Ingredients
2 1/4 cups flour
2 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
Mix butter, sugar, egg and molasses thoroughly. Blend all dry ingredients. Stir dry ingredients into butter mixture. Chill.
Roll dough in 1 1/4” balls. Dip tops in granulated sugar. Place balls, sugared side up, 3” apart on a greased baking sheet. Sprinkle each with 2 or 3 drops of water.
Bake at 375˚ for 10-12 minutes.
