Toffee Squares

1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg yolk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour
¼ tsp. salt
3 to 4 milk chocolate bars
½ cup chopped nuts

Heat oven to 350º.

Mix butter, sugar, egg yolk, and vanilla. Combine flour and salt; stir into sugar mixture. Spread dough into a greased 13 x 9 ½ x 2” baking pan.

Bake 25 to 30 minutes. Remove from oven. Immediately place separated squares of chocolate on top. Let stand until soft; spread evenly over entire surface. Sprinkle with nuts. Cut into squares while warm.
