1/3 c Soft shortening
¾ c Sugar
1 Egg
½ c Molasses
½ c Milk
2 c Sifted flour
1-1/2 tsp Baking powder
¼ tsp Baking soda
½ tsp Salt
1 c Broken nuts
1-1/2 c Cut up dates
Cream together shortening and sugar. Blend in egg and molasses. Stir in milk. Sift together dry ingredients and stir in. Mix in nuts and dates. Spread in greased 13×9-1/2×2” pan and bake at 350˚ for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool slightly and cut into bars.
